Outpatient Counseling
Wallastook Counseling focuses on the use of counseling techniques that fit the goals and needs of the individual client.
LADC Evaluations
A formal assessment that can be recommended by a doctor, a treatment center or through an intervention, an attorney, or required by a mandated court order by a Probation/Parole Officer.
Relapse Prevention
Together we identify the client’s triggers to use alcohol and/or drugs again. Then we make a plan with coping strategies that help the client overcome the cravings associated with these triggers.
Aftercare
An aftercare plan includes activities, interventions, and resources to help recovering people cope with life and with triggers, stressors and cravings that they may face when treatment is over.
Criminal Justice Referrals
Wallastook Counseling accepts referrals for LADC Evaluations and Individual Counseling Sessions from the Criminal Justice System. These include referrals from attorneys, Probation/Parole officers, and those mandated by court order by judges and drug courts.
Outpatient Counseling
At Wallastook Counseling an Individualized Approach to treatment is used, which is based on a fundamental assumption that substance abusers and their families are a heterogeneous group and must be treated from an individualized perspective. Clients dealing with substance abuse issues vary in their behavior patterns, the physical effects of drugs on them, the life consequences of their drinking or drug use, their personality, their social environment, their gender, their culture, and a host of other variables. Accordingly, Wallastook Counseling focuses on the use of counseling techniques that fit the goals and needs of the individual client.
LADC Evaluations
The letters LADC stands for Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. A LADC evaluation is an evaluation performed by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. It is a formal assessment that can be recommended by a doctor, a treatment center or through an intervention, an attorney, or required by a mandated court order or by a Probation/Parole Officer.
*These evaluations are not covered by insurance. Payment is due at time of service. Cash, Check or Credit/Debit Accepted.
Relapse Prevention
Recovery from substance misuse is so much more than just not using drugs and alcohol. The first step in treatment is stopping the drug and alcohol use. The next step is not starting again, which is called a Relapse. This is very important, and the process for doing this is called Relapse Prevention.
Triggers are often some sort of internal or external stimuli that causes the addict or alcoholic to desire alcohol or drugs again. Understanding what triggers you to relapse as well as having a plan in place are the first steps towards Relapse Prevention. Following are 5 top triggers that need to be considered when talking to a counselor or therapist about relapse: Stress, People or Places connected to use, Negative or Challenging Emotions, Seeing or Sensing The Object of Your Addiction, and Times of Celebrations.
Aftercare
A plan to support someone in their early recovery from substance misuse, prevent relapse, and assist them as they work toward their future goals. An aftercare plan includes activities, interventions, and resources to help a recovering person cope with triggers, stressors, and cravings that they may face when treatment is over.
